Andrew Hankinson

Andrew Hankinson is a PhD candidate in the Department of Music Research at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University, studying with Dr. Ichiro Fujinaga. Andrew holds a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies (McGill) and a Bachelor's degree in Music Theory & History (Acadia). When not in school, he has held jobs with the Parliament of Canada, McGill's Marvin Duchow Music Library and Acadia University.

Academic

  • I graduated in 2004 with my Bachelors in Music Theory & History from Acadia University.
  • I graduated in 2007 with my Masters in Library and Information Studies from McGill University.

Personal & Professional

Tools I Use

  • I'm a die-hard Mac user on the desktop, and prefer FreeBSD on the server.
  • I'm a huge fan of Textmate
  • I don't use Word; I use Mellel. (But I can open the stuff you send me in Word, don't worry.)
  • I don't use Endnote; I use BookEnds.
  • Final Cut Pro Studio has taken up many hours of my life.
  • I speak HTML & CSS fluently.
  • I can do Python, Ruby, Javascript, PHP & SQL.
  • Drupal is my favourite Content Management System.
  • My favourite serif font is Huronia, and my favourite sans-serifs are Univers, Frutiger and Futura
  • I have a strange attraction to SCORE for music typesetting, but Lilypond will do in a pinch.
